Why review your game play with a coach?
Reviewing game film with a coach is one of the most valuable tools for player development, yet it’s often overlooked at the individual level. While most teams conduct video sessions, they typically focus on systems and team concepts — leaving little room for personalized feedback. True growth happens when a player breaks down their own shifts with a coach who can highlight the details that don’t show up on the scoresheet: body positioning, decision-making, play away from the puck, and subtle habits that impact the game. Too often, players (and parents) judge performance based solely on goals and assists. A player can have a major impact on the outcome without recording a single point—or conversely, rack up points while consistently making poor decisions. Individual film review helps strip away those misconceptions and offers clear, honest insight into how a player is truly performing and how they can elevate their game.
What We Focus On
Identifying Mistakes - We will 're-play' each shift with athletes to reveal habits and decisions; why we made them and what could have been different
Accelerate In-Game Awareness - We will teach athletes how to read plays faster, anticipate better, and make smarter decisions with and without the puck.
Improve Positioning and Timing - We will point out small adjustments in spacing, angles, and body/stick positioning that lead to big differences in a shift
Reinforce Good Habits - We dont always want to focus on the improvements that can be made, but also highlighting what athletes did well builds confidence and reinforces repeatable behaviors
How it works
Athletes can share their shits or game footage to our Hudl/Instat user
Athletes can login to their member page and UPLOAD video file of their shifts
Athletes can email coaches time stamps of each of their shifts from LiveBarn/Black Bear TV game slots
Our coaches will meet with athletes and parents in a video call to review footage together
